ABM STUDENT'S LIFE

Being a student is fun, but it does have its up and down sides. For most students it is the first time that they have left home and is therefore somewhat disconcerting. The realization that there is now no mechanism around to take dirty smelly clothes and magically transform them into clean ones is a horrible one. There is also the feeling that nobody at university particularly cares about you, or how you are doing. This is not true; courses come complete with a whole bunch of people who are there to provide support.

June 13, 2016, our class got start. I am a freshman student of STI Balagtas which pursue the ABM Strand. The main reason why I choose ABM, it is because it is my interest. Going back to my story, before I enter the campus, nervous and excitement is visible in my face. Before going to my room, I just check in the board what section I am. After I see the names of my classmates, my heartbeat pumps faster than before. I have no idea who are they and what school they are come from. I’m asking myself “Can I easily communicate with them?” “Who among them will be my friends?” “What I’m going to do after entering the room?” “Do I need to say hi or hello?” Those questions are bothering my mind that day. But I try to ignore those and confidently enter the room. You know what? It is awkward to be in my position that day because as I look around, most of them have a friend from their former school while I have nothing at all. As day passed by, I find new friends. Even though we came from different schools, it doesn’t serve a struggle for us to bind together. If before, we feel shy to each other but now, we’re like brothers and sisters. In terms of education, being an ABM student is a wonderful experience. I have been experience something new within choosing this strand. Although there are a little bit adjustments because Senior High School is between the Junior High School and College. It wasn’t easy like Junior High School and a little bit difficult like college. The subjects are like the subjects in college. The good thing about being a first batch of K 1o 12 program is there are considerations. Our teachers are helping us to adjust with our new environment. As an ABM student, I experience to sleep late night because I have many things to do, to be independent because I know there are times that I will only be the one that can help me, to have an advance study to pass my subjects, to have a headache because I can’t solve some mathematical problems and to be stress because of many activities I need to do. Maybe some of you will be afraid to take this strand, but one thing I can assure you: those suffering can make you a better person. You will grow. Your learning will expand. Your knowledge will enhance. You would be the best version of yourself. In a moment, you will realize that you can do thing that you think you can’t do. I am enjoying my subjects even though it sucks me. It is like I am a nail hitting by a hammer, but I know there is a successful outcome if I have a wisdom and perseverance.

We all have different experiences about being a student. Let me know yours?

WHY SHOULD YOU PURSUE ABM?

1.        A ticket to the corporate world.
During your school days as a ABM students, you will be having some thesis, business proposal, interviews, survey and research paper that will truly train you to be a critical thinker. It enhances our capabilities to resolve some problems in just short period of time. It makes us more responsible and more independent. Senior High School life is more different from Junior High School life. SHS will be the stepping stone to reality. With subjects like Applied Economics, Business Ethics and Responsibility, Accountancy, Business Math, and Principles of Marketing, you are trained to think big. Those who complete this strand will play an important role in the corporate world.

2.        For the kids who sold candies to their parents and relatives to feed their piggy banks!
Who knew selling candies would predict your future? When we are young, some of us experienced to sell candies, ice candy, sampaguita and others just to earn money. Even in a young age we want to earn money because we need it or rather we want it. But you know what, by simply selling those products with your parents, friends, and relatives or even to strangers will truly affect your future. It may serve as your experience that can make you a better person someday. This strand is best for students who would like to be businessmen, entrepreneurs, marketing/sales/financial managers and specialists.

3.        And, it’s time to sell more candies!
Well, not necessarily candies. As days passed by, we are getting bigger and older. If before we are just selling candies, sampaguita etc with our relatives, this time you can be better than you are before. Your products will surely improve. You can have now more customers and buyers. The quantity of your sold products will surely increase if you have an enough knowledge and perseverance. This strand will give you tips and information on how could you start your own business. In this strand, one of its activities is a Business Enterprise Simulation wherein you get to execute your own business plan.

4.        It’s not about the money.

Forget about Jessie J’s Price Tag for a second. ABM’s about the money! Obviously, if we start a business, our goal is to earn profit right? Upon computing debit and credit, it requires money right? In this strand, it will train us how to handle our saving properly, how can our money will grow, where can we use our money and how can we earn money. But don’t make it a habit that you are just working or studying for money. Don’t forget to enjoy and explore. Being in the ABM strand can lead you to become a banker, budget officer, sales agent, financial analyst, or an accountant.

5.        You don’t have to be a scientist nor a mathematician
Not part of your section’s top 10? Not an over-achiever? That’s definitely okay. My teacher said to us when we are Grade 10, “Hindi dahil achiever ka ngayong JHS ay achiever ka pa din sa darating na SHS. Maaring yung mga kaklase mong tutulog at tutunga tunganga lang ngayon e mas mahigitan pa ang mga achiever sa pagdating ng panahon.” It is a simple reminder to us that nothing is permanent in this world. You could be better if you work for it. You can be the best if your work for it. You don’t have to be HYPER intellectual to be in the ABM strand. All you need is your interest and passion!

7 TYPES OF ABM STUDENTS

Classroom can consider as our second home. In a day, we almost spend our 8-10 hours staying at school. In a classroom, we have a classmates that we can consider our little or older siblings while our adviser or teacher serves as our second parent. It’s not easy to deal with your classmates because you have a different characteristics and personality. So, here are some types of ABM students that you can met during school days:

1.        1.   Overactive

He always has a question to ask and comment to make. He joined a book, science, math, chess, debate, or glee club. Overactive personalities can be found just about everywhere, and they can become irritating, since other students in the class have no chance to make a name for themselves.

             2.   RichKid

This one is a true fashionista at heart. Clothes are exciting to this person beyond just their simple necessity of protecting the body from the sun; clothes are a form of expression, and these people fully embrace that idea in their fashion choices. The One Who Seemingly Goes Shopping Every Weekend might be a fan of mixing up his or her appearance, or maybe he or she stick to one general style. Either way, these people know how to work clothes and always look put together. They didn’t garner this nickname for nothing, though; it seems like they are always wearing a new piece of clothing every time you see them.

3.     Nerd

Nerds prefer books to social life. Books are clever. Books don’t bully you. Books don’t ask stupid questions. What’s more, books fertilize your mind with superb ideas and make you monstrously intelligent.

4.     Bully

Bully keep in awe Nerds and Intellectual Outsiders and other much weaker species. Even several years after, when school or university is in the past, Bullies’ victims recollect studying time with hatred. However, other students are of no interest for the roughs, since they can stand up for themselves.

5.     Drama Queen

This person wants to get some attention at any cost. And really loves dramas. You don’t have to join a drama club to be a Drama Queen. For this, you just need to be the center of attention when it comes to classmates and educators alike.

6.     Star

School celebrities can be famous/notorious for a huge number of reasons: They play sports, they are A-students, and more. They are just fabulous, no matter what they actually do. They have groups of both fans and haters, and this kind of student touches practically everyone’s feelings.

7.     Clown

Sometimes their jokes are funny. Sometimes they are not. However, Clowns are doing their best to carry their entertaining mission. Everybody must laugh: classmates, educators, and coaches.
